Volunteers

The Heartland International Tattoo is excited to introduce its new Heartland Helpers volunteer program. If you are interested in becoming a Heartland Helper please complete the application form and return it to the Heartland Tattoo. Please note that volunteer positions are limited, so apply early! Applicants must be at least 18 years old to be considered. Time commitment varies with each position. For example, administrative volunteers would be needed in the weeks prior to the Tattoo while Information Table volunteers would only be needed on show days. The more flexible you are, the more likely you are to be chosen as a Heartland Helper.

Heartland Helper Positions

Access Program: Assist any patrons with special needs to help ensure that they are able to have a wonderful time at the Heartland Tattoo. This will include telling patrons with special needs about the program as they enter the Sears Centre Arena and directing them to the accessible seating areas.

Administration: Assist the Heartland Tattoo staff with everything from typing, managing incoming merchandise and stuffing envelopes. Previous office experience is helpful, but not required.

Arlington Heights Area Promotion: Help us spread the news about the Heartland International Tattoo throughout the greater Chicagoland area by distributing posters and brochures in local business, churches, etc.

General Duties/Runners: Assist the Heartland Tattoo staff on show days. This may include running errands, making deliveries within the Sears Centre Arena, etc.

Guest Services: Help Heartland Tattoo patrons feel welcome as soon as they arrive at the Forest View Education Center Entertainment Complex ! Hand out programs, answer questions, provide directions, and more!

Media: Greet, sign in, and escort members of the media to the appropriate areas.

Out of Area Promotion: Do you live too far away from the Chicagoland area to help us in person? Then this position would be perfect for you! Help promote the Heartland International Tattoo in your community by distributing posters and brochures.

Performer Hospitality: Greet Heartland Tattoo performers as they arrive and make sure they have everything they need, including water, etc. Please note: this is a mobile position that will involve considerable walking and may include some lifting.

Feedback: Talk to Tattoo patrons to find out what they like about this year’s Tattoo and what they would like to see next year.

Team Lead: Are you a natural leader? Then lend your expertise to the Heartland Tattoo! Supervise a team of 3 to 5 people and keep everyone on task. We are looking for a handful of people to take ownership of each individual team and to motivate, inspire and organize the Heartland Helpers. Team leads are required to work all day on both days of the Heartland International Tattoo.
